Sports Picks - The MasterBets Philosophy

Author: MasterBets

How We Rate Our Sports Picks

MasterBets uses three different classifications for our sports picks. We have TOP PICKS, RECOMMENDED PICKS, and VALUE PICKS. To be a successful sports bettor requires excellent research and analysis, as well as the ability to manage your bankroll. We provide the first ingredient, and only you can control the second aspect. However, we rate our sports picks to guide you through the treacherous maze that is money management.

It is easy to get emotional when one bets on sports. You have favorite teams, and within those teams there are players that you like. You will have days where everything goes against you, and where you feel you need to place one more bet. Emotions in betting lead to failure. After a lack of information or knowledge, emotions have to be the primary reason why 90% of people who bet on sports are losers. By "losers" we mean gamblers who show a long-term loss, and that's most of them.

MasterBets provides the key information that you need to win, but even then with all our expertise and dedication to sports we can only win 60% of the time. 40% is a lot of losing to absorb, especially if your betting patterns fluctuate wildly.

So, we rate our sports picks and charge for them accordingly. What we're suggesting here is that you bet a set amount on all our TOP PICKS, and then bet slightly less on our RECOMMENDED PICKS, and the lowest amount of all should be bet on our VALUE PICKS.

A TOP PICK is our best bet in that sport for the day. There are days when we do not feature a TOP PICK, and we only ever have 1 TOP PICK per sport. We're not looking for a huge value underdog. But we're also not looking for a baseball team that's -250. We very rarely feature TOP PICKS at prices shorter than -140, or 7/10 (roughly). You're still going to make at least 70% on your investment.

A RECOMMENDED PICK is usually at an even better price and the idea is that you wager a slightly smaller amount on this pick than you would on a TOP PICK.

Let's quickly define what we mean by a "VALUE" pick. It is usually an underdog selection, although it doesn't have to be the less-favored team. For us, value is found when the probability of one team winning a game is not in proportion to the odds offered on that team winning. There is a gap between what we think and what the market thinks. The odds for a game are determined largely by public opinion. But the general betting public doesn't watch or read about baseball 24/7 like we do.

To draw an analogy with mutual funds, our sports picks should be treated like stocks within various mutual fund portfolios. Our TOP PICKS are equivalent to blue-chip stocks. They're solid performers that will yield decent long-term profits. Our RECOMMENDED PICKS are sleeper stocks that we think will outperform the rest of the market. They're a little more volatile but the profits are proportionately greater as well. Finally our VALUE PICKS are just like value funds. They are riskier, but they offer tremendous potential yields.

Treat sports betting exactly the same as you would commodities trading and you'll be on the path to success. You need to be dilligent and professional in your outlook, and you need to invest with a long-term goal in mind. If you want a quick win and an even quicker loss head for a slot machine. Sports betting is something anyone can do, but hardly anyone does it right.
