The Braves are so superior to the Reds right now that only bullpen meltdowns by Smoltz and Co stand in our way of cashing big ticket plays on the runline. He certainly stopped us two days ago when the Braves cruised ahead 5-1 only to see the Reds rally with 2 out in the 9th (is there a worse time?) for a 4-5 loss that cost us plenty. We stayed away from the action yesterday, which was good for us, because the Braves went into the 9th leading 8-6 and this time they lost it all 11-8.
But these things don't happen three days in a row to quality teams, and the Braves are a quality team. Give Alfonseca the ball and let Smoltz send out his starter resumes for the offseason today. Besides, Wright might not need the bullpen - he's been that good all year. Hudson has great numbers against teams like the Brewers and D-Backs. He will struggle here, and the Braves really should win this one by 2+ runs, making that runline play the way to go...
