As Arsenal continue their imperious march towards the title attention now switches to the wrong end of the table, where battlers Leeds and Portsmouth attempt to stave off relegation. Relegation is always "staved off", never beaten off (for obvious reasons) or swatted away, or even repelled. Still one gets the general idea. Both Portsmouth and Leeds are odds-on to join Wolves in the big drop, and it would be surprising if either team stays up. Portsmouth in particular seem to have lost their way, and we're forecasting another devestating home loss for them tomorrow.
Portsmouth vs Southampton; Southampton +200
Southampton have a golden opportunity to register their third away win of the season when they visit Portsmouth. Portsmouth are in poor form, and were soundly beaten at home by Liverpool last time out. Southampton have played well leading up to this game, with an excellent win against Liverpool last Sunday being the highlight. They can register another win today and look decent betting value at 2/1.
Leeds vs Manchester City; Draw +240
These two teams drew earlier in the season and a repeat result appears highly likely on Monday night. City are inconsistent, and Leeds have shown signs of life, and they'll probably split the difference in this clash. Neither team has impressed this season, and while we expect goals (2-2 as the final score is worth a small bet
at a big price) they should be evenly shared.
