Home wins could be the order of the day this Saturday in the Premiership (excluding Blackburn naturally who have to host the mighty Arsenal). Our best bets take advantage of soft opposition as much as they do of home prowess.
Birmingham vs Leicester; Birmingham -175
We begin with the easy money, Birmingham to win at home against a Leicester side in disarray. This is a penalty kick for the Blues. Leicester are bad at the best of times, but with part of their team languishing in a Spanish jail they are in no shape to play this game. Three of the Foxes face rape charges in Spain, and the team is currently second-last in the league. Birmingham have found their form again and are sitting pretty near the top of the table. An easy win for Birmingham today is the forecast.
Charlton vs Middlesborough; Charlton +120 and Under 2.5 Total Goals at -125
Charlton can record a rare home win against Middlesborough who have very little to play for in this one. They've won their silverware, are assured of another medicore mid-table finish, and have as much firepower as the Polish cavalry in 1939. Charlton are poor at home considering their lofty league position, but they have a realistic chance of finishing in the Top 5 and will do enough to squeak home the victors in this one. The last nine meetings between these two have all gone Under 2.5 total goals. The -125 on offer is worth taking as a small side bet that they make it ten in a row.
Everton vs Portsmouth; Draw +240
Neither team has performed well this season. Portsmouth have yet to win a game on the road this season, whereas Everton have turned in some decent home efforts. They remain an unreliable team, however, and there is no value betting them to win. The most sensible bet is on the draw. Ultimately there is little to choose between these two, and there is a strong chance that Portsmouth will hold on for a tie.
