| College Football Betting Preview
With the NCAA football season almost upon us now is the perfect time to rank the top college football teams from a sports betting perspective, and to find those sleeper teams that could really shake up the college football betting market later on this year. We handpick 6 teams to watch for in terms of betting value this coming season.
West Virginia (Big East Conference)
With Miami gone the Mountaineers are the team to beat this season, and should be bet in all Big East games where they went 12-2 against the spread over the past 2 years, providing huge profits for those of us who love to bet college football.
Maryland (ACC)
Maryland won't be challenging for any conference titles this season but who cares? We're interested in college football betting and this team screams value. Last season they were 10-3 Straight Up but this season we expect them to post similar numbers ATS - just make sure you avoid them when they have to play Florida State, who owns this veteran team.
California (PAC-10)
A lot of Vegas Wiseguys and sharps have this team marked for a big season, and if we can still get decent value in the lines now that everyone is touting them we'd have to agree with the consensus. This team is head of the class when it comes to smart recruiting and is the only team in the conference that can live with the mighty Trojans. Might not have as much betting value as other NCAA teams, though, as they're not exactly a secret anymore.
Iowa (Big 10)
Our favorite pick to do serious damage to teams in terms of covering spreads for 04/05. Last season they were college football betting's answer going 10-3 both straight-up and against the spread. If all you did was bet the Hawkeyes and then just bet them to win at home you would be wealthy. They have covered 10 in a row at Kinnick Stadium and the team appears even stronger this year. Bet them to cover without fail.
LSU (SEC)
The Tigers have a tough campaign ahead of them, but have to be mentioned because the team still looks strong and last year they crushed the college football betting lines going an amazing 11-2 ATS. We expect them to fall off slightly this year with some very difficult road trips ahead, but a 9-4 ATS record would still show us all the money we needed.
Texas Tech (Big XII)
No team has had a stronger offseason recruiting from Junior Colleges, and this team shored up a lot of the cracks from last season. That's good news for those of us who bet college football, because this team was a live betting prospect last season, ending up with an excellent 9-4 record versus the spread. With improvement expected from a number of leading insiders we have to like their chances of covering an equal or greater number of games this season.
