NFL Teams who start off the season winless and then have a bye week are almost impossible to beat ATS coming off of that bye week, and they're damn tough straight-up as well.

There is true parity in the NFL; to a greater extent than in any other professional sport in our opinion. No team is good enough to go unbeaten in a season, nor is any team bad enough to go winless. The days of the Miami Dolphins winning every game or Tampa Bay and Spurrier losing every game are strictly of historical relevance. The Chiefs can lose to the Chargers on any given Sunday.

MasterBets recommends that you look for teams with no momentum who then have a break from play (in any sport, but especially in the NFL). That team is tired of being screamed at, tired of losing, and will come back far stronger. Even if they don't win they will probably cover the spread in their next game.

The opposite also holds true, although to a slightly lesser extent. Teams with tremendous momentum who have a forced break from action are susceptible to be upset in their next game. Now, some teams are just too tough, and momentum is not that significant. You have to analyze each scenario as it arises - is the team in question truly superior to their opposition? If so, the week off might not disrupt them that much, although you should still probably look to challenge them ATS.
